But she’s more determined to wake him up to play. It’s a tender and hilarious look at the both the joys and challenges of parenting.

This French language play is for three to eight year olds, but parents should enjoy it too. The language is simple enough that you don’t have to be fluent in French to get what’s going on. It’s written by Quebec playwright Jasmine Dubé, it won the “Best Production for Young Audiences” (1992) award from the Association québécoise des critiques de théâtre, and it was performed at the NAC in 2008.

Theatre Wakefield, in partnership with Canadian Parents for French (CPF) - Quebec, is proud to present a dramatic reading of this play on Saturday, March 13, at 10am, at Cabane à jeux (in the basement of the Church of the Good Shepherd, 693 Riverside Rd., Wakefield). Tickets are $5 for children, $10 for adults, $20 for families, and half-price for CPF members. They are available at Molo’s. Profits go to the Wakefield CPF chapter, to promote and create other French learning opportunities for area youth.

Petit Monstre is being directed by Elizabeth Logue, and will star Wakefield Players veteran Claude Laroche, as well as 11-year-old theatrical up-and-comer Raphaëlle Grégoire-Mayer.
